Provide Your Parrot with Appropriate Care
Parrots are perhaps best known for their long lifespan and talkative nature. We’re all familiar with the story of a parrot outliving its elderly owner and being willed to the descendants. Parrots also constitute a well-worn plot device in mystery novels: The bird faithfully recounts a killer’s words, helping the detective to crack the case. In daily life, however, parrots are a demanding but loveable option for pet owners.
Parrots require patience from their owners, no question. For starters, the birds are finicky eaters. Their dietary needs are diverse: pellets, leafy greens, fruits and seeds all factor into the bird’s daily intake. It should come as no surprise that much of these foodstuffs will end up outside the cage and ground into the floor. Parrot training can modify a bird’s behavior for the better, and it’s smart to begin as early as possible. With the right blend of patience and care, parrots can be shaped into friendly pets for the entire family to enjoy.
